Our Masjid’s History

A Place of Worship & Community

Masjid Salahudeen, the Islamic Center of Far Rockaway, is a nonprofit religious organization that has served the Far Rockaway community for over 15 years. Our masjid is located at 21-28 Cornaga Ave in Far Rockaway, New York.

Five daily prayers and Friday Jummah bring our congregation together. Quran and Islamic learning programs support children and adults, while Ramadan iftars, nightly Tarawih, and Eid celebrations create opportunities to gather as a community.

Our masjid also provides Nikah services. These acts of worship, learning, and service are part of the life of our community.

The Next Chapter

Our community currently gathers in a rented space. As shared in our building appeal, the space accommodates about 100 members, while Jummah attendance has been at least 150.

Our goal is to raise $500,000 to purchase a building and transform it into our new masjid. A permanent home would help us move beyond rising rent, provide more prayer space and an area for sisters, and improve wudu and bathroom accommodations.
